Barcelona have won the Spanish Super Cup thanks to a brace from Arda Turan and a header from Lionel Messi, while Sevilla are still trying to find their feet under Jorge Sampaoli.

The Spanish Super Cup will be in Catalonia and not Andalusia after Barcelona beat Sevilla 3-0 in the second leg of the trophy.

Already trailing 2-0 in the first leg, Sevilla had to attack Barca and they came out of the blocks trying to do just that. However, despite a bright start, it was Barcelona who got on the scoresheet first, making it almost impossible for Sevilla to make any sort of comeback. Lionel Messi played in Turkish midfielder Arda Turan who slotted past Sergio Rico in the Sevilla goal with a side-footed finish.

Sevilla had the perfect opportunity to get back into the game though. Umtiti conceded a penalty and Iborra stepped up to take it, only to see his weak effort saved by Claudio Bravo.

Just before half-time, the Andalusians then had another glorious opportunity when Gabriel Mercado hit the bar with a header which would have definitely gone in had it been six inches lower.

That was as good as it got for Sevilla, who struggled to deal with an impressive Barcelona side in the second half. Less than two minutes into the second half and Barcelona doubled their lead and once again, it was Arda Turan who found the net. The ball fell to the Turkish midfielder who curled a wonderful effort into the goalkeeper's top-right corner.

Turan then had a chance to have a hat-trick when he went one-on-one with Sergio Rico. He opted to try to dink the ball over the keeper, but ended up hitting it over the bar.

Just before the hour mark, it became 3-0 thanks to Lionel Messi. New signing Lucas Digne crossed the ball in from the left and Messi - the smallest player - rose the highest to put a looping header past Sergio Rico.

Barcelona controlled the rest of the game, and in reality, it could have been more than 3-0. Messi put an effort just wide in the dying stages of the game.

Barca will be very encouraged with their displays against Sevilla. Two games have brought five goals and two clean sheets, and that was without Neymar in both games and Suarez in the second leg.

Meanwhile, for Sevilla, it seems that a lot of work still needs to be done if they want to try to mount an outside title challenge. They were completely outplayed - especially in the second half - against Barca and will be hoping for a quick improvement ahead of the La Liga season.
