Everything suggests that FIFA will not approve Julian Araujo's signing for Barcelona. The Catalan club's board are still confident they can get some sort of exception as the documents arrived just 18 seconds late.
On Thursday, Barca director of football Mateu Alemany once again talked about this topic in a press conference and he confirmed that the signing was done. "He's a footballer who we've been following for some time and because of circumstances, because of an error in FIFA's system, we couldn't sign him. The famous 18 seconds," he said.
"He was a footballer who was coming for the second team. We count on him and are looking for solutions, via CAS or to play at a club for five months before joining us," he added.
Therefore, Alemany made it clear that sooner rather than later, Araujo will play for Barcelona as the agreement with Los Angeles Galaxy is done.
