Barcelona close to signing Vitao from Palmeiras
Barcelona are closing in on the signing of 19-year-old Brazilian centre-half Vitao from Palmeiras. The player and his representatives are in Barcelona to put the finishing touches to a deal.
The club have plans for the Brazilian under-20 captain to either play for Barcelona's B team or be loaned out to gain experience before featuring for the first team in the future. The deal comes as a result of Barcelona's contingency plans to ready youth players and make signings so that they can continue their huge success after the current crop have retired.
The teenager has played 24 times for Brazil's under-17 side and can play either centre-half or defensive midfield.
