Pedri, just 18, is having a very physically demanding season because of the amount of games he is having. This will increase if he plays in the Olympic Games, a squad he has been included in. According to 'SER Catalunya', Barcelona will ask the Spanish FA (RFEF) to take him out of the squad to prevent him getting more tired.

Pedri, in his first season at Barcelona, has become an important footballer both for Barcelona and the Spanish national team. The fact he has burst onto the world football scene has come at a cost. He has played more than 60 games this season and he will increase that number if he goes to the Olympic Games, a squad he has been included in

Therefore, Barca's plan is, according to 'SER Catalunya', to try and contact the Spanish FA to ask the midfielder to be taken out of the list. The reason is that they do not want him to be too tired ahead of the 2021-22 campaign under Ronald Koeman.

The problem for Barca is that they cannot stop the former Las Palmas man going to Tokyo. Only foreign clubs have the right to refuse to release their players for events which do not belong to the FIFA calendar. That is the case of Borja Mayoral who has not been allowed to go by Roma. Ferran Torres (Man City), Fabian Ruiz (Napoli) and Rodri (Man City) have also been stopped. The coach Luis de la Fuente confirmed this in a press conference.

As a result, it is just a simple request as that is the most Barca can do. For the meantime, He is still under Luis Enrique in the Spain camp after Spain beat Croatia in the last 16.
