The Catalan club have asked the Spanish FA to suspend their clash with Las Palmas, which is set to kick off today at 16:15 at the Camp Nou.

This Sunday is not just another day in Cataluna. The referendum of 1-O is taking place and Barcelona don't want their match against Las Palmas to go ahead amidst the tension throughout the city.

In an official statement, the club supported the right of the Catalan citizens to exercise their vote in the referendum.

Images and videos of security forces clashing with Catalan citizens in schools are going viral on social media.

On the other hand, Las Palmas has had its say on the delicate situation. The club, based in the Canary Islands, will wear a shirt adorned with Spain's flag if the match does go ahead and they published an official statement to make their position on the 1-O referendum clear.

It is the FA, and not La Liga, who has the power to decide whether or not to suspend the match.
