The Rojiblancos followed Simeone's orders of concentration and personality in preparation for a positive result at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Gimenez saw headshots of himself on a series of banners in a show of support strewn across a fence at the training ground. This comes as a sign of reconcilliation from the fans after the player put his finger to his lips to them following defeat to Levante last Wednesday.
Gimenez, in the heat of the moment, turned towards the crowd and made a gesture which Simeone was critical of in his post match press conference. The defender wanted to publicly ask for forgiveness and the fans have responded.
The Atletico family knows that Gimenez is one of their most committed players and that he always does his bit for the team. Therefore, they have returned to supporting the player and have put the fiasco behind them.
