With Cristiano Ronaldo out injured, Gareth Bale stepped up against Celta VIgo, scoring twice in succession in the first half.

It has been opined on many occasions that Gareth Bale may need to move to a Ronaldo-free environment to fulfill his true potential, and this point of view was backed up on Saturday, as Real Madrid took on Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ronaldo recently picked up an injury during 'El Clasico', and this meant that Gareth Bale got the rare opportunity to start for Real. The Welshman has struggled for games this season, often finding himself below the likes of Isco, Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema in the pecking order, however he made a case for himself in the first half at the Bernabeu.

Bale opened the scoring for Real in the 13th minute of the tie, charging clear of the defence and hitting a nice finish in at the near post to put his side 1-0 up.

He then doubled their lead on the 30 minute mark, beating his man with a lovely flick down the right, before cutting back in towards goal, and curling it into the top corner past the keeper from a fairly tight angle. It all raises the question: should Gareth go somewhere where he is the top man?
