Bale opts for stunning Tottenham return

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale would reportedly turn down Manchester United and Chelsea in order to re-join Tottenham, according to Spanish publication 'Don Balon'.

Over the summer, Bale was heavily linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu with Manchester United and Chelsea keen on the Wales star.

However, the 28-year-old winger ended up staying in Madrid, but injuries continue to hamper is progress for Los Blancos.

The aforementioned Spanish publication reports that both United and Chelsea still want to add Bale to their attacking ranks, despite missing out on him during the summer.

Jose Mourinho would want the Welshman to become the talisman at Old Trafford, with the club's famous No 7 shirt still vacant, while Antonio Conte was interested in signing Bale as a potential replacement for Eden Hazard, who was linked with a move in the other direction.

However, 'Don Balon' claim that Bale would prefer to return to his former club Tottenham instead.

The North London club faced his current side at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night and earned an impressive points, but Bale missed out due to injury.

It is reported that Bale still loves Spurs and feels he owes them a debt for the role they played in helping the player to achieve superstar status.

Additionally, the club are building for an exciting new era under the leadership of Mauricio Pochettino and a brand new stadium is in the works.
