Bale is the only one to be spared from Wales

The Belarus national team gave Wales a severe drubbing in the first half of an important World Cup qualifier in Qatar. Gareth Bale gave his side the lead from the penalty spot, but the home side scored twice in two minutes.

Wales have yet to regain the consistency that brought them so much joy a few years ago. When they had the score in their favour, with Bale's goal, they slacked off in defence and allowed Belarus to come back.

Bale was among the Welsh team's best in the first half. Brennan Johnson was brought down as he looked for an accurate finish in the box and the Real Madrid player scored with a powerful shot from 12 yards. Unstoppable.

The Wales skipper also produced some important vision that almost saw his country increase their lead when Lisakovich equalised from the penalty spot.

It was Bale's first goal for Wales since October 2019, when he scored against Croatia. But it was to little avail as Wales broke the deadlock with a 1-1 draw against Belarus and, two minutes later, the second came through Sedko from a perfect counter-attack by the home side.
