Bale avoided punishment for horrific studs challenge
Gareth Bale escaped punishment for a horrific challenge on Barcelona's Samuel Umtiti which saw the Welshman drive his studs down the back of his opposing number's leg.
In a fiesty 'Clasico' encounter at the Camp Nou which saw Sergi Roberto sent off just before half-time, Real Madrid were also lucky to go into the break with eleven on the field.
Before, Roberto's expulsion, Bale came up behind Umtiti, trying to win the ball.
However, his attempts were wide of the mark and his studs went down the back of Umtiti's leg, causing an understandable fiery reaction from the Barcelona players.
Nonetheless, referee Jose Hernandez did not issue any colour card for the challenge and Madrid will now have to wait to see if retrospective action will be taken against the forward.
