Jordan Ayew believes that Swansea's performance against Everton means they have set the bar for Premier League survival.

Swansea secured a five-point gap between them and the relegation zone after drawing 1-1 against Everton on Saturday with Jordan Ayew scoring the equaliser for the hosts.

Fellow relegation-threatened clubs Crystal Palace and Huddersfield both won over the weekend, meaning Swansea dropped into 17th position, but Ayew is hugely positive heading into the final stages of the season.

He said: ''I think it is a positive moment for the club and for me because we don't have to forget where we were six months ago. We are five points ahead of the bottom three now and this is a step forward.''

The 26-year-old admitted: ''Even though we are moving slowly, it is a positive, and if we keep on playing like this we will make everyone happy.''

Ayew returned to the fold on Saturday after serving out a three-match ban, he said: ''Although the first 10-15 minutes were difficult, I grew into the game and the boys produced a great performance.''

He reiterated the progress of the club, and said: ''Every day I have a smile on my face and work hard when I go into training. We still have a bit of a stress, but six months ago we wouldn't have got a draw in this game. It was one of our best performances of the season, but in football you can't get everything.''
