'Atsu cancelled a flight hours before earthquake'

Hatayspor player Christian Atsu is still under the rubble of one of the many collapsed buildings because of the earthquake in Turkey. Manager Faith Ilek recounted that the ex-Newcastle man was about to leave the country hours before to go to France.

Christian Atsu's agent Nana Sechere gave some new information as to the possible whereabouts of the player after the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. The Hatayspor player has still not been found.

On Friday, manager Faith Ilek further inflammed the story of the ex-Newcastle man when speaking to 'Radyospor': "Christian had spoken to the technical team asking for time off after the game against Gaziantep FK".

"He had to leave for France to go and see his family, but when he played well and scored against Kasimpasa, he cancelled his plane ticket. He had a place at 11:00, but he cancelled the ticket. Then, at 04:00, the earthquake struck. It's a tragedy", he added.

"Nine days have passed since the earthquake and we still haven't found Christian. The scenes are unimaginable and our hearts are broken for everyone affected", Atsu's agent Nana Sechere said, at the scene where the building where he supposedly is.
