Atletico to report Barcelona to FIFA over illegal Griezmann approach
Barcelona have made no secret of their desire to sign the coveted Atletico attacker and the Madrid outfit are outraged by their public pursuit of the Frenchman.
So much so, that they plan to report the Catalan club to FIFA over their alleged attempts to sign Antoine Griezmann, as revealed by Spanish outlets 'As' and 'Marca'.
After meeting on Monday morning to debate whether they should file a complaint to world football's governing body, Atletico shareholders and club chiefs finally came to the decision to do so.
The fact that Barcelona director Guillermo Amor revealed an approach had been made without Atletico's consent has been the final straw: "If Bartomeu met with Griezmann's family as the newspapers say, then there may well have been an approach," Amor said.
Manchester United have also chased the Frenchman recently, without ever admitting to meeting the player's entourage. If FIFA find Barca's approach illegal, the Catalans could be handed a two-window transfer ban.
