Atletico Madrid have reportedly terminated the current contract which, up to now, Santiago Arias had at Atletico Madrid. According to journalist Ruben Aria, the defender is a free agent and no longer at Atletico Madrid. Whoever wants him will be able to get him for nothing.

On paper, Santiago Arias is linked with Atletico Madrid until 2023. However, that has reportedly changed in recent days.

Journalist Ruben Uria says that, although the club have not reporte it officially on social emdia, Santiago Arias no longer belongs to Atletico Madrid. The club have reportedly terminated the Colombian defender's contract.

Diego Pablo Simeone did not have Arias in his ranks. Together with Vitolo, who was loaned out to Las Palmas, the Colombian was the main player ruled out by the Atleti coach for the 2022-23 season.

Before the start of the La Liga season this weekend, Atletico have opted to terminate the contract between both parties. As both agree, the defender is no longer an Atletico player and can go to the club he wishes for free. However, the club has yet to make this news official.

In the list of Atletico players who figure on La Liga's website, Santiago Arias does not appear. A clear sign that he does not have (or will have) presence in the Madrid based club.
