A 22-year-old Atletico Madrid fan has been taken to the Hospital de La Paz with serious injuries after being stabbed ahead of Wednesday's Copa del Rey game against Sevilla, according to a report issued by Madrid's emergency services department.
According to the aformentioned source the youngster was stabbed three times following a brawl near Atletico's Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
The injuries are sustained are to the back, arm and muscle, with the former being the most serious owing to the close proximity of the internal organs.
It appears that the victim was involved in a fight which ended with him needing to be attended to by the emergency services.
He is currently in a serious, but stable condition at Madrid's Hospital de La Paz.
'ABC' claims to have been told by a member of the Spanish police that the victim is an Atletico fan.
So far no one has been arrested for the incident, with the policce still looking to establish the circumstances of the stabbing and how it came to pass.
The emergency services were quickly on the scene, with those working on the game having been based close by.
