Ahead of the Champions League last 16 second leg between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, Diego Simeone spoke to the media about his expectations for the European Madrid derby at the Wanda Metropolitano.
"I believe in my players, I have confidence in my team. We will be walking onto the pitch intending to stay in the Champions League," the 'Colchoneros' manager told reporters during his pre-match press conference.
The Argentina international highlighted that the presence of the home supporters will boost the players, but equally admitted that the result will inevitably come down to what will happen on the pitch.
"The fans will not be the only reason we can win, we have to play a great game," he said before sparing a few words of praise for the upcoming visitors' head coach, Carlo Ancelotti.
"I spent a lot of time in Italy, I have experienced Italian football for many years. Several instances are similar, but there is no doubt that Ancelotti is much better than me," Simeone admitted.
