Real Madrid hotshot Marco Asensio is unavailable for tonight's Champions League tie against Cypriot side APOEL due to a bizarre injury picked up this week.

The youngster has started the season in superb form for 'Los Blancos' but is set to sit out Wednesday night's game due to an infected pimple that he sustained when shaving his legs.

As ridiculous as it sounds Real boss Zinedine Zidane has since confirmed the news, telling the press that Asensio was suffering from a 'pimple which stopped him pulling up his socks.'

The 21-year-old has scored four goals in six games so far this season for the Spanish champions and whilst his absence will come as something of a blow, it will be eased by Cristiano Ronaldo's return from suspension, with his ban not applying in European competitions.

Real have not lost their first Champions League group stage game in over a decade and they will be looking to continue that record as they look for their fourth Champions League title in five seasons.
