With the Harry Kane saga dying down in the past few weeks, Robert Lewandowski has taken pole position as Real Madrid's top offensive transfer target in summer. As reported by 'AS', Zinedine Zidane has given his approval to the pursuit.

The French manager has reportedly said yes to the signing of the Polish striker, as Real look to reinforce their attacking options as they hope to return to contesting for La Liga next season.

Furthermore, Madrid have already come to an agreement with Pini Zahavi, Lewandowski's representative. The striker is aware that this could be his last chance for a big move, as the 29-year-old striker begins to reach the end of his peak. With Karim Benzema looking less and less potent in the Madrid attack, this seems to be the perfect opportunity for both the player and the club.

According to 'AS', Florentino Perez and co. have not yet made contact with Bayern Munich. The German side are not keen on letting their star striker go, although if they are forced to, they will demand a minimum of €100million for his services.

If a deal can be reached, Lewandowski would take Benzema's place in the first team, as the Frenchman has come under increasing criticism this year. He has only managed four goals in 23 games in La Liga, meanwhile Lewandowski has bagged 23 goals in his 25 Bundesliga appearances. Lewandowski's tally in all competitions, 32, dwarfs Benzema's eight, a worrying figure for a striker.
