According to the 'Daily Mail', Arsenal have launched one last effort to keep hold of star midfielder Mesut Ozil.

Arsenal are refusing to give up hope of persuading Ozil to sign a new deal at the club.

The Gunners have already offered more than £235,000-per-week, but they were left fearing the worst after a breakdown in talks.

Any new offer will be closer to Ozil's demands of £300,000 -per-week, which would see him become the highest earner in the club’s history.

Manchester United and Barcelona are closely monitoring the situation, with both hoping to snap up the German World Cup winner on a free transfer next summer.
