Unai Emery did not have a great start to life as Arsenal manager after his side lost 2-0 at home to Man City, and the club's former captain Tony Adams has heavily criticised him.

The former PSG and Sevilla coach has got some immense shoes to fill, after he took over at the club from Arsene Wenger who spent 22 years at the helm.

The first Premier League game in the post-Wenger era ended in defeat, and while it was at the hands of a Man City team that are widely tipped to defend their league title this season, a club legend has put the blame on Emery's shoudlers.

Former Arsenal centre-half Adams told 'talkSPORT' that the new manager of the 'Gunners' had completed his pre-season preparations all wrong, despite admitting that results were good.

"I don't know what he has been doing for the last five or six weeks. Well I know what he's been doing, he has rotated all his players and given them all a game basically and they've got some good results but it's pre-season."

"You've had six weeks of pre-season – go on, get on with it!"

Emery willl have a chance to prove Adams wrong on Saturday, when his team take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
