According to 'Sky Sports', Arsenal have failed to sign West Bromwich defender Jonny Evans after making a late attempt on Wednesday.
The English media outlet claimed the London club couldn't meet West Brom's asking price for the 30-year-old after splashing out on the €63.75m signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this afternoon.
If true, it ends a transfer saga which has rumbled throughout January with Manchester City also reportedly interested in the Northern Ireland's services before completing the arrival of Aymeric Laporte on Tuesday.
Italian reporter, Emanuele Giulianelli, reported that Arsenal had offered £12m for Evans but Alan Pardew wouldn't be tempted to let his star defender go for less than £25m, with a huge discrepancy between the two figures causing the breakdown in negotiations.
Arsenal may have completed their Premier League fixture on Tuesday, in which they suffered a shock defeat to Swansea City, however, West Brom will want to banish any transfer rumours going into their league game against Manchester City on Wednesday.
