Arsenal are considering a move for Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron, but will face competion from Inter Milan for the £18m-rated player.

Arsenal are prepared to go head to head with the Serie A side in the race to sign Almiron as they look to strengthen their midfield ranks.

The Paraguay international joined MLS side Atlanta United from Argentinian outfit Lanus for £10m just 10 months ago, but he has reportedly been a long-time target for Inter Milan.

The Gunners have also expressed an interest in the 23-year-old, who has 12 caps for his country.

According to 'Calciomercato'. Inter have been considering an offer of as much as £18m for the attacking midfielder.

Almiron has shined for Atlanta United under the guidance of former Barcelona boss Tata Martino and his form has caused Inter to renew their interest.

Arsene Wenger has also been assessing his midfield options after the transfer window closed, having sold Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool, while Mesut Ozil will more than likely leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The Arsenal boss is already considering bringing Jack Wilshere back into the team if he can prove his form and fitness before the start of the January transfer window.

Wilshere struggled during a loan spell at Bournemouth last season but has impressed so far during this campaign, playing in the League Cup and Europa League for the North London side.
