With Riyad Mahrez reportedly pushing for a move away from the King Power Stadium, Arsene Wenger is considering making a surprise move for the former Premier League winner.

According to the 'Daily Star', with Mahrez having effetively gone AWOL since turning in a transfer request, many clubs are on high alert. Manchester United and Chelsea are also rumoured to be interested.

The 26-year-old was left disappointed when his deadline day move to Premier League leaders Manchester City fell through but he could still depart the Leicester club in summer with many clubs looking to secure his services.

Reportedly, Wenger has been making regular checks on the Algerian, asking about his character and the progress of his training

'Foxes' boss Claude Puel was quick to downplay any talk of a rift however, and insisted that there is a future for Mahrez at Leicester. Harry Maguire was quoted as saying yesterday than when Mahrez wants to come back there will be no hard feeling toward him from the rest of the Leicester squad.

"All the staff, especially all the squad, they are his friends. Of course, no problem when he will come back with us, with a good feeling for all the people," said Puel.

However, it appears that the saga concerning the future of Leceister's star will continue to rumble all season.
