Agreement between Witsel and Atletico closed
Atletico Madrid has already closed the deal with Axel Witsel. The Belgian midfielder will become a new Atleti player after finishing his contract with Borussia Dortmund. He will sign for one season.
Atletico Madrid continue planning their squad for next season. The Spanish team has not yet announced any reinforcements and, although few are expected, one of them is about to be closed.
According to journalist Daniele Longo, the agreement between Witsel and the club is complete, so the announcement could be made official in the coming hours. The midfielder arrives as a free agent at the end of his contract with Borussia Dortmund and will sign for one season.
Cholo Simeone will be able to count on Hector Herrera's replacement for the start of the preseason. In addition, he will compete with Kondogbia to be the team's starting midfielder.
Witsel has opted for Atleti despite having offers from Germany, Turkey, France and the United States. Last season he played a total of 41 matches in which he was the great leader in Borussia's midfield.
