Adrien Rabiot does not want to join Premier League side Newcastle United as he wants to continue playing in European competions. The English side ended last season in 7th position, though they missed out on European football all-together as 8th-placed Manchester United secured the Europa League spot with their FA Cup win, moving 6th-placed Chelsea to the Conference League spot.

The 2024/25 summer transfer window has ended and Adrien Rabiot is still a free agent. The French international is yet to sign with a new club after reaching the end of his contract with Italian side Juventus. Whilst reports from 'Mundo Deportivo' continue to indicate Barcelona as a potential move for the 29-.year-old, Newcastle have also been keen on signing the player on a free deal.

Although the Magpies would be able to fulfill the midfielder's wishes from a financial point of view - the pleyer has reportedly demanded 10 million euros net per season - it seems the sportive perspective is being prioritised above all. Rabiot has, in fact, voiced his desire to continue playing European football, something that Newcastle, unfortunately, would not be able to offer, as the club finished the previous Premier League season in 7th position.

While that would usually be enough to secure a Conference League spot,  a stroke of bad luck saw Newcastle miss out on any European competitions - Manchester United's FA Cup triumph secured them a place in the Europa League, relegating 6th-placed Chelsea in the Conference League and thus, filling all the available European spots.

With the Newcastle move now ruled out, Adrien Rabiot will look to negotiate with clubs playing in European competitions. Real Madrid and AC Milan have, reportedly, also put the Frenchman on their respective radars.
