Having been forced off the pitch in the closing moments of Mexico's CONCACAF Nations League triumph over Panama on Monday, Santiago Gimenez is set to undergo a scan with the AC Milan staff to assess the extent of the damage.

As Mexico beat Panama 2-1 to claim CONCACAF Nations League glory on Monday, Santiago Gimenez was substituted in stoppage time with an injury scare after he had looked to be struggling throughout the match.

The 23-year-old January signing from Feyenoord has since returned to Italy, where he will undergo a scan with the AC Milan staff to assess the extent of the damage, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.

According to the same source, Gimenez's fitness condition does not look worrying, and there is a possibility that an injury could just turn out to be a minor knock or fatigue

The 'Rossoneri' will be hoping for the latter as they head to southern Italy to face Napoli straight after the break. A win against Antonio Conte's side will be crucial to boost their Champions League charge as they currently sit 9th with 47 points.
