A difficult start to the year for Trippier
Atletico Madrid's Kieran Trippier did not end the year on a high note, nor did he start it off positively. Due to one thing or another, the full-back has not yet played.
The FA decided to suspend Kieran Trippier for ten weeks for allegedly violating gambling rules. The decision was at international level, i.e. it directly affected Atletico Madrid.
The full-back was set to not play until March, a date that would not hinder his participation with the English national team. Atletico appealed and FIFA suspended the ban.
Between the scare of the sanction and various problems, Trippier has not yet played a minute of what is going on in 2021 and, in fact, has not played since 22 December in the clash with Real.
He did not play against Getafe because of the sanction that and neither did he play in the Cup debacle when Simeone thought that he should save him for La Liga.
However, the match against Athletic has been postponed due to storm 'Filomena', so Trippier is expected to reappear for the postponed commitment with Sevilla, as indicated by 'MD'.
20 days will have passed, if he plays on Tuesday, due to the sanction, Cholo's decision and the storm.
