10 stars who were left out of their club's Champions League squad

All of the clubs that will compete in this year's edition of the Champions League group stages have now submitted their 25-man squad lists. However, there isn't always space for everyone. We take a look a ten stars who failed to make the cut.

Diego Costa (Chelsea)

The Spain international, who is still waiting for his move to Atletico Madrid to materialise, was surprisingly left out of Antonio Conte's Champions League.

Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)

The German is still recovering from a cruciate knee ligament injury suffered in the German Cup final against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Hatem Ben Arfa (PSG)

The arrivals of Neymar and Mbappe pushed the Frenchman, who is not wanted by boss Unai Emery, further down the pecking order at PSG.

Stephan Lichtsteiner (Juventus)

The defender is another who has fallen down the pecking order after Juve signed De Sciglio and Howedes during the summer.

Marko Pjaca (Juventus)

The Croatian is still recovering from a knee injury.

Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool)

The defender is suffering from a back problem and Liverpool have therefore decided not to include him in their squad.

Erik Lamela (Tottenham)

The Argentine is still recovering from a long-term hip injury.

Lazar Markovic (Liverpool)

Having failed to find a new club for the player during the summer. Jurgen Klopp has decided not to include the Serbian in his squad.

Danny Ings (Liverpool)

The former Burnley man has also been left out of the squad as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.

Vincent Janssen (Tottenham)

The Dutchman has fallen down the pecking order following the arrivals of Harry Kane and Fernando Llorente and has thus been excluded from Spurs' squad.
