Juventus president Andrea Agnelli has already met with Massimiliano Allegri because he may be hiring him as the new Juventus coach to take Pirlo's place. And Pirlo knows it. In the press conference prior to the Serie A match against Napoli, he spoke about football but also about whether his job might be in danger.
"The president himself warned me of this meeting, it is normal for it to take place. Besides football there is still friendship. It's as if I were to have dinner with Maldini and they said I was going to coach Milan. I am in constant contact with the president and his confidence gives me peace of mind. Obviously, my job will depend on the results", he said, dismissing the possibility that the meeting could be a sign of his sacking.
"It is not the last chance to qualify for the Champions League, it will be a clash between two teams with the same goal and the same desire", he said when asked how key the clash with Napoli could be in order to get back into the Champions League spots.
With regards to the positive coronavirus cases, he explained: "We are going to respect the protocol and what the health authorities say. We will do what we have always done: we will be on the pitch to play the game." And regarding McKennie, who was punished for attending an illegal gathering, he said: "At last he is good, he trained with the rest of the group and it is very important to have him available again."
