Zilliacus withdraws from Man Utd bidding: "The sale is a farce"

Sheikh Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani and British businessman Jim Ratcliffe were favourites to buy Manchester United. However, Finnish billionaire Thomas Zilliacus entered the race to take over the English club.

The latter dropped out of the bidding in recent days after a huge anger with the Glazers family, the current owners of the Red Devils. "It's being a farce," he said on social media.

Jim Ratcliffe, sheik Jassim and myself all were ready to negotiate a deal to buy United," he added, pointing to the alleged culprits behind the failure of the deal to go ahead.

Finally, Zilliacus commented on this issue in the same vein: "I will not participate in a farce set up to maximize the profit for the sellers at the expense of Manchester United.
