It is reported that Zidane is exhausted, that this second season after his return has taken its toll, and that he wants to leave the club once again. But Toni Kroos believes he will stay, because the manager hasn't told him any different, and he feels that there is enough trust between the two of them for that to happen.
In a chat to podcast 'Einfach mal Luppen', Toni Kroos analysed the current events at Real Madrid, starting with a review of the season itself. "A season without a title is never a good one for Real Madrid", he began.
"But if you ask a lot of people outside of Madrid if they expected us to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League at the start of the season - especially after the group stages of the competition - I'm not sure you would have found many people that would've said yes. We fought for the title until the final day. That's not to say it was a good season, but at least we were there", he added.
About La Liga, Kroos believes that the side lacked consistency. "We weren't really consistent this season. Everyone had their problems, including ourselves. However, in my opinion, we showed character this season", he assessed.
He also spoke about his future. "I'm sure that we will take this as an opportunity to try and improve. There are still many questions about how Real Madrid will be next season", he said.
"Put I'm sure about one thing: Real Madrid will come back fighting, I can promise you that. We will return next year and fight for everything. I have no doubt, this is what my experience from seven years at Real Madrid tells me", he insisted.
And he ended up speaking about the future of his manager. "It's reported, even in Germany, that he'd already announced his departure. That is a complete lie. Zizou and I have a relationship in which no doubt he would have told me. I don't know what will happen, I can just say that it's always fun to work with Zizou", he concluded.
