European clubs are keeping an eye on David Alaba's contract renewal. The player has yet to reach an agreement with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are waiting in the wings.
As Sport Bild reports, the club's manager Zinedine Zidane, has given his approval for the signing to be made.
Their interest has raised some eyebrows, a Real Madrid have their full-backs well covered, with Carvajal on one side and Marcelo and Mendy on the other. But it seems the Austrian player's quality has made him too good to pass up.
Alaba has already shown that he can play in the offensive field, with another winger behind him, making him very versatile.
With Zidane's approval, Real Madrid will begin to study different scenarios to sign Alaba. The player ends his contract with Bayern in 2021.
Therefore, for Alaba to leave the Bavarian club, the club that wants to take his services will have to negotiate with Bayern. However, if his contract is not renewed, his price will drop with the possibility that he will leave for free next year.
Real Madrid, however, will not have an easy time convincing Alaba. In the same league but further east are Barcelona, who may seek a replacement guarantee for Jordi Alba.
