Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo 'Monchi' was a goalkeeper for Sevilla during Diego Maradona's year at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, after his historic period in Napoli. This Thursday, the Sevilla sports director wanted to remember his former team-mate.

Before the heartfelt minute's silence held by the Sevilla team, Monchi left a few words shared by the club in which he wanted to highlight Maradona's human qualities.

"I want to give my condolences to the Argentines in the team. I was fortunate to be Diego's partner for a year in Seville, I was fortunate to live with a good guy. A guy who turned from an idol into a friend overnight," said Monchi.

"There will never be a teammate who will speak ill of him. He had the ability to put a different Sevilla on the map. You will read a lot of things about Maradona, but rest assured that he was a good person who was worth it," he added.
