Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United via the back door after increasing tensions with Erik ten Hag. The Portuguese man said he didn't feel respeced by the club in one of the worst moments of his life and the Dutch coach punished him several times for his behaviour.
The relationship between the Manchester side and the striker ended up resulting in the striker's departure and move to Al Nassr. Now another ex-United legend Dimitar Berbatov has come out to defend his ex-teammate when he spoke to 'Goal'.
"I don't think it was a mistake to bring him back. In the first season he scored a lot of goals. In my opinion it was a question of misunderstandings, lack of communcation and mutual respect. When you've got a player with the stauts of Ronaldo, a football living legend, you've got to show him respect", he said.
He then added: "You don't have to talk to him all the time. If he's not playing, tell him why and explain the choice of not picking him. He needs to feel special, especially because he is. Players like him have earned their status in football and as a manager you have to know that. If you don't show that, you'll lose his respect, just like what happened with Ten Hag".
