The 20-year-old became an important fixture for Boca Juniors in 2015, despite his tender age, making 66 appearances in total for the Argentine outfit which attracted the interest of numerous top teams in Europe, including Real Madrid.

The player and Boca finalised an agreement with the 'Bianconeri' in 2016 for €10 million, rising eventually to €12m after a few teething issues with the transfer. He formally became a Juventus player on July 1, 2017, signing a contract to keep him in Turin till 2022.
Since then he has played just over 600 minutes for the Serie A leaders, although with Miralem Pjanic suspended for Juventus' quarter-final first leg with Madrid on Tuesday, the young midfielder could be given his moment to shine against the club he could've signed for two years ago.
