Xhaka, anti-vaccine and in trouble: he refused it and tested positive

There's a major mess surrounding the figure of Xhaka. The Arsenal player, after testing positive for COVID-19, has come under fire for refusing to take the coronavirus vaccine that would have helped the situation.

Xhaka did not take the coronavirus vaccine because of "a personal decision". "We recommended that everyone should be vaccinated, but he decided not to. It's his right," explained the Swiss federation's director of communication.

'Reuters' reports that only one player has been quarantined because of Xhaka's case. The rest are immune either because they have already passed COVID-19 or because they have been vaccinated in recent months.

It appears that Xhaka's positive test came after an initial rapid test was negative and a PCR did show the Swiss midfielder, who will miss important matches against Italy and Northern Ireland in the run-up to the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Qatar.
