The match which was played on Friday night at the Rades stadium between Esperance and Wydad ended up with the Tunisians being proclaimed champions after the Moroccan outfit refused to play on.
Esperance were 1-0 up (2-1 on aggregate) until the 59th minute when Walid Karti levelled the scores.
However, the Gambian referee, Bakary Gassama, decided to disallowed the goal for offside and did not use the VAR because it was broken. This led to mass protests from Wydad players who left the pitch. After a stoppage of over an hour, the referee declared the Tunisian team champions.
"It's unfair and we are not going to remain silent and we are going to appeal to CAS and FIFA," highlighted the Wydad president, Said Naciri, in comments to the official Moroccan agency 'MAP'.
Naciri classed the match as "a failure for African football" and "a refereeing massacre", at the same time that he complained that the game had taken place with a VAR which was not working.
The contorversial game caused a wave of indignation and protest on social media in Morocco.
The first leg in Rabat last week, which was also controversial, ended 1-1.
