Mexico international Jimenez is expected to fetch £34million according to Benfica's estimations, although Wolves are considering stumping up an initial £3million for facilitate a loan deal for the forward.
The 27-year-old scored eight goals last season with the Portuguese club, but Jimenez is not the only addition that Wolves are looking to make to their squad.
Wolves have also expressed an interest in Sparta Prague goalkeeper Florin Nita, with hopes to bring the 30-year-old over to the Molineaux on a loan deal that could result in £4.5million transfer.
Nita is viewed as a worthy alternative to Wolves' previous target, Rui Patricio, after negotiations stalled following a dispute between Patricio's agents Gestifute and club, Sporting Lisbon.
