Many have not been happy by the decision UEFA made to punish Croatia by not permitting fans to see their match against England, with some suggesting that taking away home advantage would have been a better punishment.
The lack of atmosphere in the ground no doubt contributed to the lack of intensity on the pitch, with a 0-0 draw being played out on the night.
Speaking after the game to 'ITV', former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright hit out at the players having to play in such an environment.
"Without the fans, no matter what players are on show, it's rubbish. That was a terrible atmosphere to play in.
"The only thing I can equate it to is a reserve game, when you're coming back from injury, a reserve game. I would hate to play in that situation without fans there."
England next play Spain on Tuesday, where the atmosphere will be no doubt a lot more lively.
