Bayer Leverkusen have a star they want to protect. Florian Wirtz is still playing at a great level so far this season, with five goals and three assists in just six matches. He has had a good performance every time he has played.
These numbers have had an immediate effect both in and outside Germany. In recent days, several media outlets said that there was interest from Bayern Munich in getting hold of the player's services, but negotiations did not prosper.
Now, several clubs in England have joined in the fight for the 18 year-old. According to 'The Mirror', Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are keeping tabs on the footballer and they could put in several offers for him in the next transfer window.
For now, Wirtz and his agent's plans are to stay at Bayer Leverkusen at least for one or two more years. However, they will have to wait until January to see whether any of his suitors will put in an offer which cannot be refused.
Until this happens, the German will stay at his current club where he has become one of the team's stars despite his youth. Last season, he became the first player to score five goals before turning 18 while he now has 14 goals in 53 appearances.
