Once Ousmane Dembele passes through the operating table next Tuesday and his long absence is confirmed, FC Barcelona will turn to the RFEF for approval to allow the club to sign outside of a transfer window.
Madrid's two top sports newspapers revealed the names of the players who appear to be at the top of the club's transfer list. 'Marca' reported this Friday that Willian José is the current favourite, while 'AS' claims it's Alavés' Lucas Pérez who has taken the lead.
The main problem facing Barcelona for Willian Jose's arrival would, of course, be his hefty pricetag. Willian José has a buyout clause of 70 million euros. An amount that the Barça board would be looking to reduce to be able to afford the last-minute signing.
However, the opartion will be difficult to negotiate, as the striker is a very important player for Imanol's team. He has scored eight goals and his competition is fundamental to achieve the challenges of this season in Gipuzkoa: to qualify for Europe and fight to win the Copa del Rey.
Lucas Pérez's option seems much more feasible. The 31 year old forward also accumulates eight goals this season, although his clause of only 20 million makes the operation easier. All the more so, considering that the Vitoria club would be willing to negotiate below that amount.
Cristhian Stuani, Angel Rodriguez and Loren Moron are some of the names that have also come to the fore in recent days. All of them now seem to have taken a back seat.
