Kubo could have returned to Barcelona last summer. The Catalan side started to negotiate with the players' circle in October 2018, but he was finally ruled out due to financial reasons.
'Mundo Deportivo' explained that, according to Barcelona's version, the club and the players' representatives met as many as four times, but an agreement wasn't reached.
Barcelona reportedly rejected Kubo's financial demands to not break the economic line of the board, something that the player's side strongly deny.
Kubo's agents assure that there was only a 20-minute meeting in which they only listened to the club. "They only gave us a spreadsheet," they admitted to 'Mundo Deportivo' but argued that they did not ask for a million euros, as other clubs were offering more.
What both Barcelona and Kubo's agents did agree on was the sporting aspect, which involved spending two years at Barca B before making the leap to the first team.
