Bedoya is a little-known name in the world of football, but he was certainly infamous with referees during his playing career. The fiery Colombian holds the record for a total of 47 red cards during his days both on and off the pitch.
Most recently, he was ordered off as part of the coaching staff in a hotly contested derby between Sante Fe and one of his former clubs, Millonarios. Although it is not the first time that Bedoya has been red-carded whilst not in a playing capacity.
He received his 46th red card after just 21 minutes, as Junior FC equalised against Sante Fe. The match had marked Bedoya's first foray into coaching, and after ranting and raving at the referee for ten minutes, he was promptly banished to the stands.
During his playing career, the defensive midfielder was nicknamed 'The Beast' and became known for his disciplinary problems. Despite racking up astronomical numbers of red cards, Bedoya retained his first-team spot in several of the clubs that he played for.
His most vicious red card is contestable, but most likely the top spot would be for his brutal and unnecessary attack on Millonarios' Yhonny Ramirez. The two had been former team-mates at Boyaca Chico, yet there was no camaraderie between the two in this match.
Bedoya, unable to get on the end of a Sante Fe cross, instead opted to elbow Ramirez in the face, before aiming his studs at the midfielder's head whilst he was down. His actions led to a full-scale brawl breaking out on the pitch and saw him slapped with a 15-match ban.
Meanwhile on the international stage, the Colombian managed to maintain a much cleaner record having picked up only one red card from 49 outings for the South American nation. Despite aiming to project a much calmer self-image on his social media accounts, Bedoya will go down in history as the one of the dirtiest players to have graced the football pitch.
