The two most impressive performers of the night were Emile Smith-Rowe and Joe Willock, with both teenagers getting on the scoresheet. Smith-Rowe has already netted in the Europa League and is a regular in England's U-19 team while Willock has already made his Premier League debut for the 'Gunners', coming on in the defeat to Newcastle last season. Both seem to be knocking on the door for a Premier League place, even with Arsenal's depth in midfield.
Another starter in the match was Eddie Nketiah, a 19-year-old striker who announced himself to Arsenal fans with a double in the League Cup last season. He has been in and around the Premier League team, and despite not being judged as good enough for the Chelsea academy, he could get a more regular role for Unai Emery's side.
Three other teenagers were given their debuts in the match, with defender Zech Medley, winger Bukayo Saka and defensive midfielder Charlie Gilmour. All three players are further from Unai Emery's plans in the immediate future, but all showed composure and flashes of what they can do, to suggest Arsenal's academy graduates have a bright future.
