Although it may have been considered as the slighly easier side of the World Cup in Russia, it's been a difficult journey for both teams to make it to where they are.
Croatia had to keep their nerve taking penalties against both Denmark and Russia, while England had to take penalties against Colombia.
After England got through against Colombia, it became clear that Pickford had done his homework on the opposition penalties.
So here's a quick look at the likely Croatia penalty takers during the World Cup and how Pickford could beat them.
Luka Modric (Four penalties, three scored, one missed)
Modric showed some nerves during thee game against Denmark, missing a penalty in extra time.
However, minutes later in the penalty shootout, he stepped up and scored.
In his first penalty which was saved, he sent the ball low and to the right, but still quite central. During the ensuing shootout however, Modric went straight down the middle.
Against Russia, he went left instead. Going left has been more successful for him in the tournament, scoring against Nigeria there as well.
Ivan Rakitic (Two penalties, two scored)
Rakitic stepped up and converted the fifth penalty for Croatia under intense pressure.
On both penalty occasions, Rakitic waited for the keeper to dive before placing his shot.
Pickford will have a hard to decision to make when coming up against Rakitic.
Milan Badelj (One penalty, missed)
The defensive midfielder took Croatia's first penalty against Denmark, which Schmiechel was able to save with his legs.
His effort was fast, low and relatively central.
Josep Privaric (One penalty, missed)
The penalty brought out a very good save from Schmiechel in the shootou.
A very curved run up gave way to a low strike which headed towards the corner before being palmed clear.
Marcelo Brozovic (One penalty, scored)
He took the opening penalty against Russia and put it in the net.
A strong, confident run up, and a high shot over Akinfeev into the top right corner.
Mateo Kovacic (One penalty, missed)
He went fourth in the shootout against Russia, and his penalty was turned round the post by Akinfeev.
His penalty was drilled into the bottom right, and Akinfeev made an expert save to deny him.
Domagoj Vida (One penalty, scored)
Vida has been at the centre of controversy due to his comments about Ukraine, and is a doubt for the England game.
His penalty against Russia was well taken. A short run-up followed by a punching shot into the mid-left of the goal.
