"When you're not fully fit, you get frustrated"

Gareth Bale is clearly a different person when he plays for Wales. A smiley, happy, leader who is clearly sure of himself. He syas he is fully fit after a complicated pre-season where his future dominated the press, and therefore affected his mood.

“Every player with more confidence plays well and scores more goals. Ideally I can score a few more and keep scoring and helping the team. Going into the summer games I didn't have that physical fitness where I wanted to be. I think when you are not fully fit in terms of match fitness then you are not able to do what you want to and you get frustrated. It is a bit of a downward spiral", said a clearly chattier Gareth Bale than what the Spanish press is used to.

The Welsh star was clearly uncomfortable with his situation in Real Madrid, as Zidane publicly admitted he wanted him to leave

However, his performances have been key for a struggling Madrid, scoring two key goals against Villareal and proving essential for Wales against Azerbaijan. He is clearly in a good fitness run, but this hasn't stopped him from looking at future challenges.

“Those games are gone, I am in good form and am fully fit. I have the matches under my belt and am going into these games with confidence. That helps with being able to score and physically do what you want to do.”

The leader of his national Welsh team,  known to be quite powerful and provide exciting performances as was the case in the Euro 2016,  the Real Madrid foward has scored 32 goals in 78 mathces,

Yeah definitely,” Bale replied when quizzed about Wales' chances of qualifying. "I wouldn't be here otherwise, I wouldn't be wasting my time. I love playing for my country, I love trying to qualify for major tournaments and having that taste of it at Euro 2016 gives you that hunger to do it again and to experience what we did. We all still fully believe we can and we hope the public still believes and give us all the support we need. In an ideal world we would have loved to have played better but Azerbaijan make it difficult for teams."
