Athletic lost their first game of the season against Granada and some fans of the Basque side focussed their criticism on Dani García's ability to dominate the centre of the pitch. The player, in his words to 'Radio Popular', prefers to focus on more positive things.
"When we lose, they say that I'm terrible and I don't know how to play football. But I don't let myself be led by what's on the outside, everyone has their own opinion of what they like or don't like, and that shouldn't distract us", he said.
Neither does he think that Garitano should be blamed: "I don't think he should be blamed because, after getting us out of a difficult situation, he almost got us to Europe, he put us in the cup final... the ones to blame are the ones who go out every day to play".
For this reason, he has chosen to move forward from the fiasco at Granada: "We know what team we have and what we have to do. For me, this is the most important year of our careers with the option of winning the cup final, of going to the Spanish Super Cup... plus there's La Liga and the Copa del Rey. It's a year we have to take advantage of".
