It has been a long time since then. In fact, Zinedine Zidane had not even made his debut as Real Madrid coach. The Frenchman was Carlo Ancelotti's right hand man when a controversy arose and put him in the spotlight: He had not finished getting his permit to be a manger at a professional team.
There were difficult days for the Frenchman and Real Madrid. There was tons of criticism and some came from within Spanish football. Paco Jemez considered it "a disgrace" what was occurring.
"I don't consider him a colleague because he doesn't have his badges. When he gets his badges, I will consider him a colleague. I think the situation is a disgrace. I don't know what I studied and got my coaching badges for. It turns out that in Spain you can coach without having your badges," he commented.
Jemez, in addition, assured to be disappointed with the coaching school. After a soft response from Ancelotti, the Rayo coach went on the attack. "He is not qualified yet and he can't coach in Spain."
However, Zidane never spoke about it and he only responded to the controversy in general. Despite everything, they made peace with each other two years later, before a Rayo-Real Madrid game, now with Zidane as the manager. Jemez was full of praise for him: "I am not one for judging coaches because I know it is difficult ot lead a group, but Zidane deserves very great credit for handling such a great group. I only hope he triumphs and enjoys.
