In an extensive letter for 'The Players Tribune', Marcelo talked about comments made prior to the Champions League finals in 2017 and 2018 against Juventus and Liverpool.
The full back revealed that he had an anxiety attack prior to the Liverpool game and then he looked back at comments made by Cristiano Ronaldo.
They were in the hours prior to the final with Juventus on 3rd June 2017. The dining room was silent.
"We were all sitting around a table to eat before the game. There was silence and no one was saying anything. Everything was very tense," the Brazilian recalled.
But Cristiano Ronaldo got up and ended that silence and made his teammates feel less pressure by saying that he also felt the pressure of the occasion.
"Finally, Cristiano said: 'guys, one question: Is it me or does anyone else have butterflies in their stomach?' Everyone else replied that if Cristiano feels that than so can we. Cristiano is an ice man, a genius and even he was feeling nervous. He broke the tension and only he could do it," he wrote.
The defender ended by talking about the sppeech Cristiano made just before the game started. “In the beginning, it will be difficult. But in the second half, we will win peacefully.”
