From his first day as a Blaugrana, Eto'o promised a lot. Among so many things, claw, fight and, above all, many goals. He began by making his LaLiga debut against Racing, scoring the second goal to seal Barcelona's 2-0 victory.
That same season, after a a game against Real Madrid and the conquest of LaLiga by Barcelona, the Cameroonian dedicated a now-legendary phrase, credited with increasing the rivalry between the two teams: "Madrid, bastards, hail the champions".
They were good years for Barça and fortune continued smiling to Eto'o, who was key in the historic victory 3-0 in the Santiago Bernabéu, on November 19, 2005, in a game in which Ronaldinho received a standing ovation by the same rivals.
February 2006 saw one of the ugliest events that can be seen in sport. Eto'o was the target of racist insults in the duel that took place in La Romareda between Zaragoza and Barcelona.
Glory awaited Eto'o, however, in the following May. In the Champions League final in Paris, Barcelona beat Arsenal 2-1 with a goal from the historic African striker.
Guardiola arrived and, unlike Ronaldinho and Deco, had the opportunity to stay to live a magical year. His performances were all based on his goalscoring capacity, including a strike in the Champions League final against United, leaving the Catalans as a legend.
